Respiratory care.
A thoughtful next breath.
Personalized primary care for cough, asthma follow-up, and ongoing breathing concerns at Rochester HealthSpan Medicine in Pittsford.
Respiratory Care in Rochester, NY
Breathing symptoms can affect sleep, activity, and everyday confidence. Whether a cough is lingering or you need to review an established treatment plan, a careful assessment helps clarify the next step.
We consider symptom patterns, medical history, medications, smoking or vaping exposure, and environmental triggers. Testing and referral are guided by your individual needs.
Our Rochester-area practice offers continuity through a concierge primary care model. Respiratory concerns that require pulmonary, allergy, or sleep specialist expertise are coordinated with the appropriate clinician.

Support for breathing and airway concerns
Cough & respiratory symptoms
Review new or persistent cough and associated symptoms to decide on appropriate evaluation, treatment, or a higher level of care.
Asthma & ongoing treatment
Review symptom control, inhaler use, side effects, and your existing action plan. Lung function testing or specialist assessment may be recommended when appropriate.
Exposure & trigger review
Discuss tobacco, vaping, workplace exposures, and possible environmental or allergy triggers. We help identify practical risk-reduction steps and relevant referrals.
Sleep & specialist coordination
Discuss snoring or other symptoms that may need sleep evaluation. We coordinate pulmonary or sleep specialist assessment when indicated.
What to expect from your visit
Bring your questions, medication list, and relevant records. Your physician reviews your history, symptoms, previous treatment, and the concerns that affect your everyday life.
We discuss whether testing will help, explain treatment options and referrals, and agree on realistic next steps. Follow-up reviews your response and any new concerns. Recommendations are individualized rather than a fixed package of tests or treatments.
This is respiratory care within primary care, not a pulmonary specialty clinic or emergency service. Severe or rapidly worsening breathing difficulty requires urgent assessment.
Respiratory Care questions & membership
Do I need lung function testing?
It depends on your symptoms and history. Lung function tests can help assess airflow and clarify some diagnoses. Your physician explains whether testing or specialist referral would be useful.
Can lifestyle changes replace my inhalers?
No general recommendation applies to everyone. Avoiding smoke and managing triggers can support care, but prescribed inhalers may remain essential. Do not stop or change treatment without your clinician’s guidance.
Will antibiotics help a cough?
Not every cough is caused by a bacterial infection. Your physician evaluates the likely cause and whether antibiotics or another treatment is appropriate.
When should I seek emergency care?
Call 911 for severe breathing difficulty, blue or gray lips, chest pain, confusion, fainting, or another suspected medical emergency. Do not wait for a routine appointment or message response.
What is included, and how does insurance work?
Review your current membership agreement for included visits, access arrangements, and exclusions. Our practice does not bill insurance for membership-covered primary care. Tests, imaging, medications, and specialist services may have separate charges; coverage depends on your insurer and outside providers. Membership is not health insurance.
Support beyond one appointment
Your plan can connect with chronic disease management, lifestyle medicine, and preventative care.
Our membership-based practice supports an ongoing physician relationship. Appointment availability, communication arrangements, and included services follow the current membership agreement. Discuss these details during your free meet and greet.
