Acute Care in Rochester, NY
A new illness or minor injury can leave you unsure what to do next. Having a care team that knows your history can help you navigate the situation.
Contact the practice through your agreed member communication channel for guidance about assessment, appointment availability, or another care setting. The urgency and type of concern determine the appropriate next step.
Our Pittsford practice provides outpatient primary care within its clinical scope. We are not an emergency department or a walk-in urgent care center.

Support for non-emergency concerns
New illness assessment
Discuss symptoms such as a sore throat, cough, or other new concerns. Your physician determines whether an office visit, testing, remote guidance, or another care setting is appropriate.
Urinary & other symptoms
Review symptoms and relevant history before deciding on testing or treatment. Not every concern can be assessed or treated remotely.
Minor injury concerns
Seek guidance about appropriate evaluation for a minor musculoskeletal or skin concern. Injuries needing imaging, procedures, or emergency treatment are directed to the right setting.
Treatment & follow-up
When treatment is appropriate, your plan considers medications, allergies, ongoing conditions, and follow-up needs. We explain what changes should prompt reassessment.
What to expect from your visit
Bring your questions, medication list, and relevant records. Your physician reviews your history, symptoms, previous treatment, and the concerns that affect your everyday life.
We discuss whether testing will help, explain treatment options and referrals, and agree on realistic next steps. Follow-up reviews your response and any new concerns. Recommendations are individualized rather than a fixed package of tests or treatments.
For a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department. Do not wait for a practice message response if symptoms may be life-threatening.
Acute Care questions & membership
Can you guarantee a same-day appointment?
No guarantee is made on this page. Timing depends on clinical urgency, availability, and current membership arrangements. Contact the practice for guidance about your situation.
Should I use the meet-and-greet form for a new illness?
No. The free meet and greet is for learning about the practice and membership. Existing members with symptoms should use their established contact channel. Seek urgent or emergency care when indicated.
Will I always receive antibiotics?
No. Treatment depends on the likely cause and assessment. Antibiotics are not appropriate for every illness, and testing or an in-person visit may be needed.
When should I call 911?
Call 911 for suspected heart attack or stroke, severe breathing difficulty, major injury, loss of consciousness, or another medical emergency. Routine office messages should not delay emergency care.
What is included, and how does insurance work?
Review your current membership agreement for included visits, access arrangements, and exclusions. Our practice does not bill insurance for membership-covered primary care. Tests, imaging, medications, and specialist services may have separate charges; coverage depends on your insurer and outside providers. Membership is not health insurance.
Support beyond one appointment
Acute care fits alongside chronic disease management and preventative care, with your broader health history in view.
Our membership-based practice supports an ongoing physician relationship. Appointment availability, communication arrangements, and included services follow the current membership agreement. Discuss these details during your free meet and greet.
